Six goals shared in 3-3 draw between England Veterans’ Over 60’s and Bangladesh on Sunday 18th January in Cambridgeshire.

England started well and took an early lead after Darron Gibbs’ header hit the bar and Bill Stewart nodded home the rebound.

A defensive error saw Bangladesh equalise and within 10 minutes, sloppy marking from a set play saw the Tigers take the lead.

Just before half time Garry Bruce equalised with a stunning free kick that curled into the top corner. 2-2 at half time.

England changed formation at half time. They were the better team and throughly deserved to take the lead when Ian Urquhart put away a header.

They then had plenty of chances to put the game to bed but just couldn’t score and a Bangladesh free kick was saved by England keeper John Walker but the rebound was tucked away to make it 3-3.

England had a great chance to win the game when Graham Pearce was fouled and a penalty awarded but Urquhart’s spot kick was well saved.

Peter Ward was awarded England’s Man of the Match.

Our thanks to the match officials and to St. Ives Town FC for use of their excellent facilities.

Richard Brannam was presented with his England Veterans’ representative Cap, commemorating 5 or more international appearances for the Over 60’s. Congratulations Richard.
