Such a disappointing second day for England Veterans in the Over 55’s Four Nations tournament on Saturday 6th September.
Again, England felt they dominated the game but ended up on the end of 3-0 defeat to Wales in Hertfordshire.
In the first half, England had the majority of the possession but just couldn’t create enough clear chances to take the lead.
Wales had a rare corner and somehow Mike Fredriksen managed to sneak one in at the near post. The goal completely stunned England and knocked the stuffing out the side. 1-0 at half time.
In the second half, England still dominated possession without troubling the Welsh goal and another corner saw Fredriksen double the Welsh lead.
England started to become disjointed and although they huffed and puffed it was Wales that scored again through Warren Jones on the break to win 3-0.
Congratulations to Wales.
England lost Alun Wood, Mark Saggers, Dave Smith and Phil Davis before the game through injury which didn’t help but the same old story. If you don’t take your chances you don’t win games.
The other game ended 2-1 to Northen Ireland against hosts Maccabi.
Tomorrow (Sunday 7th), England play Northern Ireland and Wales play Maccabi. Games kick off at 11.15am.
Only Northern Ireland can now catch Wales but it looks like the Welsh will retain the title they won last year in Leicestershire.
