English Veterans Physio – Lisa Bowden. Get to know Lisa a little bit more or to book her services.
It has been a real honour to support the England Veterans Football community over the past three years, much of this time given voluntarily as a way of giving back to players who have dedicated so much of their lives to the sport. Being able to help with pre-match and post-match preparation, recovery, and first aid when needed is something I feel privileged to do.
My journey into sports therapy began through my own background in athletics and competitive running, where I represented my city. That experience gave me a strong understanding of the physical demands placed on athletes and inspired me to move into therapy, personal training, and nutrition support so I could help others in their sport more fully.
My route into the profession was through specialist training and mentorship with respected practitioners in the sports industry, and I now work as both a Sports Therapist and Personal Trainer, with a strong nutritional background, helping athletes maintain performance, prevent injury, and support their overall well-being.
Over the years I have been fortunate to work across a wide range of sporting environments, providing therapy at events throughout the UK and internationally. This has included supporting martial arts competitors in Portugal, military personnel, golfers, endurance athletes including Ironman competitors, County-level rugby players, and veteran footballers. I have also attended major fitness and performance events as a therapist, offering treatment to athletes preparing for and recovering from competition. Each experience has shaped my approach, which focuses on practical support, injury prevention, and helping athletes continue doing what they love.
Supporting the England Veterans remains a genuine privilege. I offer an open-door approach where the focus is on keeping players match fit through preventative care, preparation, recovery, and ongoing well-being support.
“I have always believed that those who have given so much to their sport deserve the same level of care in return”.
