England Veterans’ Over 75’s retained the Aneurin Bevan Shield with a 2-0 victory against old adversaries, Wales on Tuesday 14th April in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Wales dominated possession in the first half but it was England who went in at half time two goals to the good – Mark Hughes scored a very good opener just before the break and Herb Riches added the second just a few minutes later after good work down the right from Jim Ellis.
England were much better in the second half and could have gone further ahead. Geoff Martel was nominated as England’s Man of the Match.
Victory means England keep hold of the prestigious Aneurin Bevan Shield and over £1000 was raised for Prostate Wales. Thank you for the donations.
Our thanks also, to the match officials, our hosts and to Barry Town AFC for use of their excellent facilities.
