A great second day for England Veterans at the International Super Masters 5 aside World Cup in Denmark.

The Over 65’s deservedly lifted the trophy beating Old Stars 2-0 in the final. Both goals were scored by Steve Slater.

The 65’s started the day on 13 points following six victories and a draw on the first day.

Day two saw them add five more wins. They beat Ancient Britons 2-0, Global Doctors 2-1, Wales 2-0, Denmark 2-0 and FIFA Select 2-0. They finished the round robin with 23 points, winning 11, drawing 1, scoring 38, conceding only 4.

Well done also to the Old Stars who had several players from England Veterans’ Over 70’s.

The Over 60’s also had an excellent second day, winning five and drawing one.

They beat Poland 4-0, Wales 8-0, Switzerland 5-0, France 10-1, Global Doctors 5-0 and drew 2-2 with USA.

They finished in sixth place with 16 points. Republic of Ireland beat Northern Ireland on penalties in the final.

Steve Edkins, the Over 65’s goalkeeper won the Golden Glove award for 9 clean sheets out of 13 games.
