In their second game of the European Cup, England Veterans Over 70’s defeated Denmark 3-0 on Tuesday 9th June in Cardiff.
England played against the wind in the first half but were still the dominant side. Tony Sproats and Steve Mole linked up well to create chances but it was still 0-0 at half time.
With the wind in their favour, England again started strongly and were rewarded with a goal after four minutes. Roy Gladwell cut inside and struck an excellent shot into the far corner to give England a deserved lead.
England continued to create chances and it was Mole who scored two late goals to secure the win. His first came from a narrow angle, while his second followed a dribble into the box before he confidently slotted the ball home.
In the other game, Wales beat Germany 1-0, so winner takes all when England meet Wales on the final day of the tournament on Thursday 11th. England’s goal difference is plus 4. Wales’ plus 2.
Come on England!
