A 2-2 draw and honours even between a mixed age England Veterans (Over 50’s, 55’s and 60’s) and Herne Bay Over 45’s on Sunday 5th July in Kent.

England created numerous first half chances but were repeatedly denied by an outstanding Man of the Match performance from the Herne Bay goalkeeper.

Despite England’s dominance, it was Herne Bay who broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time. A penalty was awarded following a foul in the box, and the spot kick was calmly converted to give the home side a 1–0 lead at the interval.

England made several changes during the break, but they were caught cold immediately after the restart. A well-worked move from the hosts doubled their advantage to make it 2–0.

England responded with determination and Steve Ward embarked on a superb run before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to halve the deficit.

With the momentum now firmly in England’s favour, the equaliser eventually arrived when Martin Buglione curled a magnificent free kick into the net from the edge of the penalty area.

Both sides continued to battle in the intense heat but neither could find a winner.
