An emphatic 6-1 win for England Veterans’ Over 50’s over a strong and experienced non league legends team from Northwood FC on Sunday 2nd August in Middlesex.

England led 2-0 at half time following goals from Mark Bellingham and Kerry Giddings, the former after a superb left foot cross from Dave Bastien.

With both sides making changes, Northwood started the second half strongly and England goalkeeper Mark Ormerod was called into action several times with some neat stops.

Northwood were then stunned by two goals in quick succession as first Brenton Amedee rose at the far post to squeeze in a header and then midfielder Dave Smith hit a long range chip that outfoxed the keeper.

Marauding defender, come wing back, Ian Daniell then scored with a half volley and the tireless Ron Jeffery beat the offside trap to notch number six.

Consolation was achieved by Northwood via an own goal and to their credit they never gave up.
