A solid performance from England Veterans’ Over 50’s saw them run out 3-0 winners in the Charity game against Wandering Crows on Sunday 27th September in Hertfordshire.
A slick move resulted in Steve Flain scoring on his debut and although England dominated, there were no further goals by half time.
England keeper Paul Stafford had to be alert to pull off some goods saves from distance as a strong Crows’ team tried to find the equaliser.
Stafford Browne had his penalty saved and he hit the post before finally scoring England’s second with a more difficult chance. Nick Clayton rounded off the evening and secured the result with a long range strike to add the third.
Our thanks to the match officials and to Bishops Stortford Football Club for use of their excellent facilities.
The real winners of course were the local charities in Essex and Hertfordshire which the Wandering Crows continue to support. Thank you everyone for your generosity.
