A narrow 4-3 victory for England Veterans’ Over 60’s against Bath Old Dogs’ Over 50’s in the sunshine and downpours on Sunday 12th April.
England took a very early lead when Player/Manager Andy cranch drove home with the first shot of the game.
England created many more chances but failed to score before a defensive mix up let the Old Dogs striker run through and lob keeper John Walker to make it 1-1 at half time.
England started the second half well but again failed to take their chances and Old Dogs took the lead.
England’s Ian Urquhart was unfortunately carried off with a serious knee injury – we wish him a speedy recovery.
Bath increased their lead from the penalty spot but England continued to make chance after chance and finally Phil Davies nudged a corner over the line and a super chip from Richard Brannam drew England level.
With ten minutes left, Tony Wright ran through, rounded the keeper and secured the victory for England.
Our thanks to the match officials and to Larkhall Athletic Football Club for their hospitality and use of their facilities.
