Two games for England Veterans on Sunday 19th October in Tower Hamlets, Greater London. They played teams representing Bangladesh, who had impressively held trials and selected players from all over England.
First up were England Over 60’s who drew 1-1 against a lively Over 55 Bangladesh side. England led 1-0 at half time – new PlayerManager Andy Cranch netting from the penalty spot after Graham Pearce was fouled in the box.
Bangladesh deservedly equalised 15 minutes into the second half but England started to dominate and looked more likely to find the winner. Kevin Barthrop and Andy Durrance both shot over and Colin Fulloway went close with a header and a shot.
In the second game, England Over 50’s took on a very competitive Bangladesh Over 45 team and ran out convincing 5-0 winners. Ricki Finning and Chris Moore both scored twice and Kevin Marsden netted the other.
Our thanks to the match officials and to Bangladesh for their wonderful after match hospitality.
