A great 4-0 win for England Veteran’s Over 60’s against a very strong and committed Bocking Over 55’s on Saturday 20th September in Cambridgeshire.

Skipper Nigel Pruden headed home a long throw from Kevin Barthrop to put England ahead after 20 minutes and a close range finish from Bill Stewart doubled the lead within minutes.

Tony Harvey scored with a shot from outside the box to make it three by half time.

In the second half both sides huffed and puffed but the game lacked quality with neither side able to keep possession. But it was England who added to the score with a stunning volley from Andy Gombas whose shot rocketed into the back of the net.

We can’t ever complain about a 4-0 win but England never really got going and to their credit Bocking never stopped working and had a few chances at the end but keeper Gary Corby kept a clean sheet for the Over 60s.

Our thanks to the match officials and to the Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge for hosting the game.
