Eight goals shared in a 4-4 draw between England Veterans’ Over 60’s ‘A’ team and a Norfolk and Suffolk combined Over 60’s team on Sunday 4th October in Leicestershire.

Within twenty minutes of the start, Norfolk and Suffolk with a few younger players in their team raced into a 3-0 lead. England made a formation change at the back and reduced the deficit from a Dean Smart penalty and the same player added a second following a five man move to make it 3-2 at half time.

Soon after the restart, Norfolk and Suffolk scored a goal from a fortuitous cross but England bounced back again – Smart completed his hat trick with a far post header and Simon Mason levelled the scores with another headed goal.

England finished the stronger of the teams, hitting the bar and post but unfortunately couldn’t find the winner against a strong Norfolk and Suffolk side.

Our thanks to the match officials and to Kirby Muxloe Football Club for hosting the game. We look forward to a return fixture very soon.
