A convincing 4-1 victory for England Veterans’ Over 70’s against the Worcestershire Over 65’s representative team on Wednesday 11th February in Leicestershire.

England began the game well. Steve Mole registered two early shots even before David York collected the ball on the wing, cut inside and fired home from 30 yards with just 6 minutes on the clock.

Worcester responded well but after 18 minutes York doubled England’s lead, again scoring from 30 yards.

After 26 minutes, Mole advanced to the edge of the box and fired home, further extending England’s advantage.

With 40 minutes played, England were awarded a free kick 30 yards from goal. Don Bradley stepped up and beat the goalkeeper, making it 4–0 at half-time.

In the second half, Worcester pulled a goal back after 10 minutes, with the ball slipping past Brian Kirk in the England goal.

England finished strongly, with both Mole and Eamon Whelan going close but there were no further goals.

Our thanks to the match officials and to Lutterworth Athletic for their hospitality.
