A 3-0 defeat for England Veterans’ Over 55’s against a much younger and very talented Exeter City Legends on Sunday 12th October in Devon.

A most enjoyable game and super facilities at the Exeter City training ground but England found themselves up against an extremely competitive side and battled away to keep the score down to three.

Exeter applied plenty of early pressure as their class shone through. They scored early and were two up within twenty minutes. England dug in, kept the ball better, held their shape and went in at half time still two down.

Exeter came out very strongly in the second half but again England defended like lions to keep the score respectful but eventually City added a deserved third.

A fantastic defensive performance against a top team and over £500 raised for charitable causes in the local area. Thank you everyone for your generosity.

Our thanks to the match officials and to Exeter’s Kevin Miller for making the game happen and for the super hospitality.

This was the last game in charge for England Veterans’ Over 55’s Manager Andy Cranch. Thank you for your three years of service and good luck in your new role as Manager of England Veterans’ Over 60’s. The very best of luck also to the newly appointed Over 55’s management team of John Price and Darren Steadman.
