An incredible 16-1 victory for England Veterans’ Over 70’s against Milton Keynes’ Over 67’s on Sunday 23rd August in Buckinghamshire.

England opened the scoring with a Roger Steer header and Steve Mole added the second with another header. Robert Skinner added the third and Eamonn Whelan the fourth. Steer, Skinner and Whelan all scored again to make it seven by the end of the first quarter.

Milton Keynes began the second quarter more brightly and had a goal disallowed for offside but England soon resumed scoring. Steer scored twice more to take his personal tally to four before the opposition pulled one back to make it 9-1 at half time.

England continued to dominate after the break. Peter Carney scored from the edge of the box, Skinner scored his third and Mole helped himself to two more. Carney added his second and England’s fourteenth by the end of the third quarter.

Before the final whistle both Mole and Skinner took their individual tally’s to four.

Milton Keynes kept working hard throughout, but England’s quality and finishing proved decisive.
